Data protection declaration
(Information about the collection, processing and use of personal data on the Pepper GmbH website)

1) Introduction
Pepper takes the issue of personal data protection very seriously. Personal data is only collected and processed to the extent that this is technically necessary. Under no circumstances is the collected data sold or passed on to third parties for other reasons.
Pepper affirms that it complies with the regulations laid down in the German Federal Data Protection Act as well as other relevant legal regulations when collecting, processing and using personal data.
The declaration below provides an overview of how Pepper guarantees data protection and what type of data is collected for what purpose.
2) Definitions
Personal data is “information concerning the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable individual" (Section 3, Paragraph 1 of the German Federal Data Protection Act).
"Personal data" is information that refers to an identified or identifiable natural person such as a person’s name, age, e-mail address or postal address.
"Website" refers to the website of Pepper GmbH.
"Pepper" refers to Pepper GmbH. Pepper is a fully owned subsidiary of Computershare Ltd. All Pepper web services are offered in the Federal Republic of Germany by Computershare.
3) Collecting, Processing and Using Personal Data
We only collect, process and use personal data if you provide us with said data voluntarily and this is allowed by law or you have granted your approval.
Personal data is only collected, processed and used on the website for the following purposes:
1) "Send a friend" function: The following data is requested and used solely for sending e-mails and is not used by Pepper for any other purpose:
- E-mail address of recipient
- Name of recipient
- Your e-mail address
- Your name
2) “Newspepper” eNewsletter: The following data is requested exclusively for the purpose of obtaining confirmation of the newsletter subscription and for sending the newsletter as well as for consultancy and advertising purposes:
- First name
- Last name
- E-mail address
- Company
- Position
- Country
- Language
- Areas of interest
Pepper collects, processes and uses personal data only within the Computershare Group in Germany.
To a permissible and necessary extent, your data shall also be processed and saved on servers owned by salesforce.com, Inc. in the USA for the purpose named in Item 3.3 (Newspepper eNewsletter). The level of data protection offered in the USA is not as high as that offered in the EEA. To guarantee a level of data protection comparable with the EU data protection standard, salesforce.com, Inc. has made a contractual obligation to Pepper to comply with the German data protection regulations. In addition, salesforce.com, Inc. is a member of the safe harbor program.
Your data shall not be sold, leased or exchanged with third parties. If we forward data to external service providers for the execution of the order (order data processing), said service providers shall be bound by the regulations of the German Federal Data Protection Act, other statutory data protection regulations and the present data protection declaration.
We shall forward your data to state and private offices that are authorized to receive information if we are obliged to do so by law or judicial decree. We also reserve the right to forward your personal data (even without your agreement) to third parties, if this is necessary, to protect ourselves against attacks that constitute elements of an offense or that could potentially prevent or impair the functional capability of our websites or networks.
4) Non-Personal, Anonymous Information
Non-personal data is also collected when a user visits a website. This data generally does not allow the user to be identified. Every time a user accesses a site and every time a file is called up, data on these procedures is saved in a log file for internal system-related and statistical purposes and evaluated anonymously. The following data record is saved each time a file is called up:
- Name of the file called up
- Date and time of the call-up
- Data quantity sent
- Message stating whether the call-up was successful
- Description of the type of web browser used
- Referrer URL (the previous site visited)
- Host name of the computer accessing the file (IP address)
This data cannot be allocated to specific people for Pepper or be combined with other data sources. In addition, it is deleted after undergoing an anonymous, statistical evaluation.
5) Cookies
The site uses cookies in several places. Cookies are small text files that may be temporarily stored on your hard drive. This data makes it easier for you to navigate the website and is required for technical reasons.
Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain any viruses.
6) Hyperlinks
The following applies for all links in the website leading to other websites:
Pepper expressly declares that the linked sites were free of illegal content at the time the link was created. Pepper has no influence on the current or future design or the content of the linked sites. Pepper therefore expressly distances itself from all linked content that was changed after the link was created. This applies for all links and references placed within the website. Liability for illegal, faulty or incomplete content, and particularly for damage arising from use or non-use of such information, rests solely with the provider of the linked site and not with the person who links to the site in question.
7) Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
In case of activation of the IP anonymization on this website, within the European Union or in other contracting member states of the general agreement of the European Economic Area (EEA) Google will shorten your IP address beforehand. Only in exceptional cases the full IP address will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the USA and then shortened there.
Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. 8) Data Security
We consider it our obligation to protect your data. To prevent unauthorized access or unauthorized disclosure, to ensure the correctness of the data and to guarantee authorized use of the data we have set up appropriate technical and organizational procedures to secure and protect the data that we request online.
9) Right to Information
In accordance with Section 34 of the German Federal Data Protection Act, you have the unrestricted right to information, free of charge, about your data that has been saved by us. In accordance with Section 35 of the German Federal Data Protection Act, you also have the right to delete or block impermissible data and to correct incorrect data. On request, we are willing to inform you in writing whether we have saved personal data about you, and if so, which data. If possible, we will take suitable measures to immediately update or correct your personal data saved by us. In such cases, please contact our data protection officer directly.
